Thank you for your interest in becoming one of our volunteer drivers! In many cases our drivers are the only people WAMOW participants see regularly, and the meal they deliver may be the only freshly prepared, nutritious meal the participant eats that day. The importance of our volunteer delivery drivers who support our mission can not be overstated, and the gratitude received in return for such service is invaluable. Everything you need to know about driving for WAMOW and the necessary application documents are on this page. If you have any questions, please contact us.
Drivers utilize their own vehicles
Regular drivers commit to a particular route on the same day once per week. Substitute drivers may choose to drive at their convenience. Vacant routes are shared via email each week or so, allowing regular and substitute drivers to reach out if they are interested and able to pick up a route.
Deliveries are made five days per week (Monday through Friday) from roughly 10:30am until noon.
Carroll County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) https://www.carrollcountyrsvp.org/ offers mileage compensation to drivers over the age of 55. If you qualify and would like to sign up for the program, please contact RSVP at (603)356-9331 or info.ccrsvp@gmail.com, or the WAMOW team.
In addition to meal delivery, as a driver you are performing a wellness check on behalf of each participant you visit. A participant is required to interact verbally or visually with a volunteer during delivery unless a family member or caregiver has confirmed that they are performing a daily wellness check. In some cases, meeting a driver is a challenge for a participant and someone else is looking in on them daily, so we may not see or hear from every participant.
"Meals on Wheels is more than just delivering meals. It is about building relationships with those you may not know and a generation that is "The Greatest Generation". It provides an opportunity to do random acts of kindness showing love and respect. We enjoy it so much that we volunteer for our regular route one day a week and often volunteer as a substitute a second day."

"My wife and I have been delivering meals to neighbors for over a year. The Program Director and her team do an excellent job of preparing the meals and communicating with us. In a short time, we’ve become part of the lives of the neighbors that receive meals. They look forward to our deliveries and short visits. We look forward to helping neighbors, even if it is just a short visit once a week. We get a great feeling from volunteering for this valuable program. "
